Volleyball is sadly one of the most ignored sports genres in the anime world. There were only 5 animes made that featured volleyball. Volleyball came to light after the recent success of Haikyu as one of the best sports anime ever. So without further ado here are the top 5 volleyball anime to binge-watch and enjoy this season.

1. Haikyu

This anime scores top of the list hands down. There is no volleyball anime yet that can compete with Haikyu and rightfully so.

Haikyu is the amazing story of Shouyou Hinata. He strives to become the best volleyball striker despite his small height. In sports height is everything and Shouyou wants to prove that wrong. An amazing sports anime that is full of thrill, passion, and teamwork that inspire you to play volleyball.

If you haven’t watched it yet then you have missed one of the best animes ever made. Go watch it.

2. Harukana Receive

If action and thrill aren’t your things then what about hotties in bikinis. Harukana Receive offers you the best of both worlds with some great ecchi action as well as some awesome beach volleyball.

It’s a fun and relaxing anime that will make your day. The main story revolves around Haruka Oozora and Kanata Higa. Haruka is new to beach volleyball whereas Kanata feels inferior due to her short height. How will this duo work together to win the beach volleyball tournaments? Find out in Harukana Receive.

3. Attack on Tomorrow

Most volleyball anime ever made, especially in the 90s, focused on female players. Other than Haikyu all the volleyball animes have female protagonists and attack on tomorrow is no exception to this. This anime story revolves around high school girls who love playing volleyball and their coach is the male protagonist of this anime series. It’s a decent anime but it’s over 4 decades old so don’t expect any eye candy. If you are new to anime you are better off with Haikyu.

The anime has a good premise and decent story but due to the lack of visuals may turn away from it.

4. Attacker You

Our main protagonist in Attacker you are You Hazuki. She is a 13-year-old girl with dreams of being the best attacker in volleyball. Your dreams of making it to the national women’s volleyball team and representing her country in the Olympics. The anime follows the life of You as she tries to be the best player and impress her crush as well. You also have great competition as well as reach rivals making the anime quite thrilling.

It’s a very old anime but still a great watch. If you cannot bear to see the old art then Haikyu and Harukana receive are the only two animes you should stick to.

5. Attack No. 1

This is by far the oldest and the best anime of its time. I mean there were hardly some good animes back in the day. The anime shows Kozue’s rise from rock bottom to being one of the best international volleyball players fighting in the championship tournament. The anime focuses on elements of volleyball that are otherwise missed.

You get to experience the joys and sorrows of a professional volleyball player through Kozue’s perspective. A must-watch if you love thrilling sports anime. The animation is bad and I wish they would make a remake for the same.

6. Bonus: Shoujo Fight: Norainu-tachi no Odekake

This is not exactly an anime but an OVA hence I have put it in the bonus section. The main protagonist of the anime is Neri Ooishi a talented high girl when playing volleyball but she keeps hiding her skills for some reason. Despite her love for the game, why is she so bent on quitting volleyball?

Find out more in Shoujo Fight: Norainu-tachi no Odekake.

That’s all folks. These were the best volleyball anime ever made in the history of the anime culture. If I missed any great volleyball anime let me know in the comment section below.

Happy Binge-Watching.
