Top 16 Anime about Insecurities and Personal Growth

Insecurity is an issue in society in and of itself. And it’s the underlying source of the majority of issues you can imagine. The next step is personal growth—choosing to overcome your anxieties and transform into a better, more resilient person. Even if it’s in a different method, everyone is competent. Let’s discuss anime that emphasises and depicts these subjects.

Violet Evergarden

Violet Evergarden
Top anime about insecurities and personal growth

The Great War finally ended after four protracted years of hostilities. Violet Evergarden, a young child bred to be a lethal weapon on the battlefield, ends up in the carnage. Left with just the words from the person she cherished most, she had little grasp of what they meant. After hospitalisation and severe injuries in a brutal conflict during the War’s last phase, Violet has no purpose anymore.

After Violet heals from her injuries, she embarks on a new career with CH Postal Services. She happens to see an “Auto Memory Doll” at work there—a machine that records people’s innermost emotions and feelings as written words. Violet’s moved by the idea and starts working as an Auto Memory Doll, and embarks on many adventures as a doll.

Every episode is like an event from another person’s perspective. Their life, ambitions, regrets, family, friends, through each person, Violet “tastes” life. No wonder why, it’s the one of the top animes about insecurities and personal growth.

Yona of the Dawn

The fictional nation of Kouka, founded 2000 years ago by the Crimson Dragon God, descended from the Heavens as a human, dubbed the Crimson Dragon King. However, the Crimson Dragon King, eventually forced to fight these humans made a last stand. But, just as he was about to be killed and the world was about to end, four other Dragon Gods imbued with dragon blood joined his side as human warriors and helped him lead Kouka to prosperity. The title of the first episode, “Barakakodon,” which is Japanese for “energetic/cheerful youngster,” alludes to Naru Kotoishi, an extremely hyperactive child who enters Handa’s life. The prequel spin-off Handa-Kun tells the amusing tale of Seishu Handa, the genius calligrapher and protagonist of Barakamon, during his hilarious high school years.
